The Politics and Public Policies group at
CMS makes available important data on hospitalizations
authorizations (AIH) in the metropolitan area
of São Paulo, based on data provided
by the Unified Health System (Sistema Único
de Saúde) for the years 2000, 2001,
2002 and 2003. This data is contained on a
CD entitled Georeferenced AIH - Authorization
for Internment in Hospitals (AIH) in the Metropolitan
Area of São Paulo.
The gross data was collected from the Ministry
of Health databases and then georeferenced
by zip code. Each point represents one authorization
for hospitalization and includes basic data
such as general characteristics of the person
being treated (i.e. age, gender), hospitalization
data - AIH number, hospital, special branch,
procedures ordered and done, diagnosis, hospitalization
date, discharge date, reason patient was charged
and the amount charged (invoiced).
