Survey Cebrap 1991

In 1991, Cebrap was engaged in a large scale research on the Metropolitan Area of São Paulo, focusing the poorer part of the population. The investigation approached many aspects of people's lives, such as their conditions of having access to public policies (especially the health, education and social welfare oriented ones), their labour conditions, their access to the labour market, associativism, community networks and perceptions about the political system (adherence to democratical principles, authoritarism, behaviour towards politics).

The survey provided elements for a broad view about life conditions and some of the perceptions shared by the poor, opening space for carrying out a similar study in 2004. The comparison of results from both surveys will make possible to evaluate how the life conditions of the poor evolved from 1991 to 2004.
