In
the Transference area, CEM's main concern is the transmission
of knowledge, methodologies and tools for public agencies
and planning institutions, coming out with useful
resources for public policies conceiving. Moreover,
Transferece area is interested in disseminating metropolis-related
databases.
Therefore, the various possible research approaches
make use of qualitative and quantitative basis, according
to the analytical nature of every project. Besides
making use of available basis, there is also the production
of new metropolis-related databases through application
of surveys, document surveys, interviews and ethnografic
research.
The basis are also converted into maps, all incorporated
to a Geographic Information System (GIS) - a method
that allows to visualise conexions between the Research
area projects, articulating then to the activities
of Transference and Diffusion.
In such case, the Transference area activities are
oriented to the constitution of the São Paulo
Metropolitan Area's GIS, so far featuring information
about employment and unemployment, family, health,
education, urban infrastructure, culture, religion,
associativism, electoral behaviour, environment, inasmuch
as the spacial and functional organisation of metropolitan
activities.
