Course on Geoprocessing using TerraView Social – Policy Software

The Centre for Metropolitan Studies (CEM) offers, on the December 5th to 7th from 9am to 5pm, a Course on Geoprocessing using TerraView Social – Policy Software.

The course gives a general overview of the system from conceptual and practical points of view. The participants will learn basic usage and will be able to explore possibilities for presentation and spatial analysis of social, economic and population data allowed by the program and by the available databases.

At the end of the training, we expect that participants will be able to visualize research and analyze geographic data and tables and generate maps of cartographic quality.

The course lengths 20 hours and will be ministered at Faculdade IBTA (Rua Vergueiro, nº 1759 – Ground Floor. Near to Metro Paraíso. Click here to access a map of the course location).

- Topics Covered in the Course:

·Introduction: Fundamentals of Geoprocessing;

·Program Structure: Databases, Information Plans, Views and Themes, Importing Vectoral Data, Selecting Objects;

·Basic Analytic Tools: Spatial search, searches by attributes, Thematic maps, graphics;

·Working with attribute tables: Importation and integration of data originating from Data Tables of Various Origins, selection of data in a table, working with a grade area;

·Geographic operations: aggregations, sums, intersection, difference, attribution of data for location, collection, distribution, creation of areas of influence.

 
- The participants will receive:

·Material with examples used in the course;

·CD with the Terra View Social - Policy Software and Databases;

·Course Certificate.
