Researcher Does Seminar on the Question of Centrality Metropolises today are divided into poles or centers that compete among each other for public resources, looking for biases in public policies. This was the subject presented by UNESP Professor Heitor Frúgoli Jr. in the seminar “A Questão da Centralidade em São Paulo: O papel das associações de caráter empresarial”(The Question of Centrality in São Paulo: The Role of Entrepreneurs Associations) presented on the 4th of June. Three examples were analyzed: the Viva o Centro (Long Live Centro) and Viva a Paulista (Long Live Paulista Avenue) movements and the businesses in the region of Avenida Berrini, who also act by pressuring public authorities. T he professor explains that, in his research, centrality is determined by a higher concentration of work in the modern third sector, as well as by the presence of public spaces, cultural activities, historic patrimonies and population density.
