On the 18th of last month, sociologist Isaura Botelho and anthropologist Mauricio Fiore, both from CEM-Cebrap, presented their research entitled, “Práticas Culturais e uso do tempo livre na região metropolitana de São Paulo” (Cultural Practices and the Use of Free Time in the Metropolitan Region of Sao Paulo) during the VIII Luso-Afro-Brazilian Conference in Social Sciences at the University of Coimbra, in Portugal held between the 16th and the 18th of September, 2004. The central theme of the event was “The Social Question of the New Millenium” which dealt with politics and citizenship, justice, violence and inequalities, risk and health policies.
