| Cultural Practices in the City of Sao Paulo The text O uso do tempo livre e as práticas culturais na Região Metropolitana de São Paulo (The Use of Free Time and the Cultural Practices on the Metropolitan Region of Sao Paulo)is now available on the website of the Center for Metropolitan Studies. It deals with the report of the first stage of the research carried out by Isaura Botelho and Mauricio Fiore, CEM researchers. The research shows the influence of sociodemographic variables--such as levels of schooling, income, age categories and home location-- in the access to traditional cultural practices, such as going to the theatre, museums or the cinema. The survey was done using 2002 questionnaires. In the second stage, expected to be completed by the end of the year, more detailed interviews were carried out with a group which represents about 5% of the initial sample. With this, it is possible to obtain further information about the cultural practices of residents of Sao Paulo.
