CEM and Seade Foundation present map-server covering 645 municipalities in the state of Sao Paulo The tool allows users to compare up to 300 statistical variables and is available for consultation free of charge via the internet. Through the websites of the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM) and the State of São Paulo Data and Analysis Foundation (Seade), it is now possible to navigate using an exclusive tool that allows crossing up to 300 variables to analyze and compare statistical data of 654 municipalities in the state of Sao Paulo. The variables contain indicators related to business, demographics, health, life conditions, sanitation, education, public finances, electorate, housing, industry, justice and public security, work, financial systems, revenue and transport. From these indicators, users of the tool can visualize and produce their own maps. They can also use zoom, color selection, carry out an advanced search, create legends, and print the maps to better use and understand the statistical data used in research work. An example of the map server for greater Sao Paulo is already available on the CEM website. The tool will remain online for free use, revealing the new forms of understanding the society and space for the larger public. Among the possibilities for working with the server, we highlight the importance for schools and the formulation and planning of government policies and actions.
