Voting map of Sao Paulo—Municipal elections 2000
In 2000, 6,119,318 voters appeared at 1,134 voting locations in the city of Sao Paulo, thus deciding who would fill 55 seats of the City Council and manifesting their preference for the new Mayor of the capital.
To produce a snapshot of this election, CEM produced 91 maps which show the distribution of the vote by the voting location. These maps included mayoral candidates with more than 2% of the votes, elected city council members, total performance of parties with representation in the municipal council, blank and void ballots and party list votes.
We used different colors for the parties with the greatest number of votes, using the same scales for the mayoral candidates and for the elected city council members for these parties. The smaller parties or those with less than two elected city council members (PPS, PSB, DT, PRONA, PSD and PFL) were classified into two groups — right wing parties and left wing parties — represented by two colors.
