PUBLIC NOTICE OF SELECTION PROCESS FOR THE STATE OF SÃO PAULO RESEARCH FOUNDATION (FAPESP) POST-DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIPS AT THE CENTRE FOR METROPOLITAN STUDIES (CEM)

The Center for Metropolitan Studies, by means of this public notice, announces the beginning of a selection process for Fapesp post-doctoral research scholarships. Selection will be a two stage process. In the first phase, the candidate’s curriculum vitae will be analyzed and their research project scrutinized (see model here).

The candidate’s profile and background will be borne in mind as much as the scientific quality of the presented proposal. The relevance of the candidate’s proposed research to the Center’s main lines of research will also be of fundamental import (see description here).

To learn more about this, go to www.centrodametropole.org.br. Candidates shortlisted from the first phase will be called for an interview with the Selection Committee.

The final number of candidates selected for post-doctoral scholarships, up to a maximum of 3 (three), will depend upon the merits of the proposal and of performance in the interview.

Proposals must be received by May 15th, 2009 (deadline has been prorrogued - whether posted or sent via internet). The results of the first phase will be made known by June 15th, when those candidates chosen for interview will be announced. The date of the interviews will also be announced at this time. Interviews will be held at the Center for Metropolitan Studies (CEM) headquarters.

The beginning of the receipt of financial aid will depend upon the finalization of the scholarship concession process by the financing body in question, in this case Fapesp.

Proposals may be sent via internet to the CEM’s e-mail address: centrodametropole@cebrap.org.br or by air mail to: Rua Morgado de Mateus 615, Vila Mariana, São Paulo, CEP 04015-902.

It is requested that, in the latter case, proposals are sent care of Mariza Nunes, CEM´s Secretary. For information through the telephone, call (00-55-11-5574-0399).
