| CEM Documentaries On the 10th of last month, the first three documentary films produced by the Audiovisual area of the Center for Metropolitan Studies were shown, following the debate Ciências Sociais e Cinema Documentário (Social Sciences and Documentary Filmmaking) Two of the films are mid-length features based on CEM research. A Moda no Centro deals with the textile industry in Bom Retiro, and Cinco Mulheres de Paraisopolis presents interviews with residents about life in shantytowns. The third production, Em Transito, is a full length feature about the day-to-day lives of residents of the city of Sao Paulo and their daily transportation route. The film is an independent project of Gervaiseau, coordinator of CEM’s audiovisual area. The debate is fuelled by the participation of three directors: Ismail Xavier, Coordinator of the Diffusion area of CEM; Ronaldo de Almeida, responsible for the research on Paraisopolis, and Alvaro Comin, one of those responsible for the research on the downtown Sao Paulo in which is included a study on the textile industry in Bom Retiro. This audiovisual production of CEM will be the subject of the next edition of diverCIDADE magazine, to be launched at the beginning of August. Links
